Mother's Day, from the cat

Cats don't say thank you, at least not out loud. Mother's Day is the one day they can: a present from the cat to the person who feeds it, brushes it and gives up the warm chair for it.

When it is

UK Mother's Day is Mothering Sunday, three weeks before Easter Sunday, so the date moves each year. From late January the last order date for each product is at the top of this page.

Everything is made to order (2–5 working days) and then posted. The delivery time and cost are shown on each product page before you buy.

Getting a photo of the cat

Cats rarely pose, and they don't need to. A photo of the cat asleep in a patch of sun, or watching the garden from the windowsill, works well: daylight, the face in view, the phone held at the cat's eye level rather than looking down.

If the cat lives with Mum and you don't, ask whoever's at home to send one, or look back through the family group chat. Any clear photo of the face will do: you see the finished portrait before you pay anything, so you'll know if it's the right one.

Ideas from the cat

  • A card from the cat, from £5, with the cat on the front and the inside left blank for the message.
  • A mug from £19, with the cat's portrait and name: something for the cup of tea the cat will try to sit on.
  • A framed print from £39, for a wall she sees every day.

Which style suits Mum

A classic oil portrait gives a cat the air of quiet importance it already believes it has. Watercolour is softer and suits a lighter room. For a mum who'll laugh, the Royal portrait, crown and all, says what the cat has always thought of itself.

What the cat might write

The card is blank inside, so the words are yours. A few that sound like a cat:

  • Happy Mother's Day. I have left you nothing on the doormat this year. You're welcome.
  • Thank you for breakfast, second breakfast and the radiator. Love, Mittens x
  • To my favourite human. Don't tell the others.

No photo? Give a gift card

If you can't get a good photo of their pet without giving the game away, a Fancy Pet gift card lets them choose for themselves. It's emailed, straight away or on the morning you pick, for any amount from £10 to £75. It's in pounds, used in one order and lasts 2 years.

Questions

When should I order for Mother's Day?

Everything is made to order, so leave a week or two. From late January this page shows the last order date for each product for UK delivery. Missed it? A gift card is emailed, on the morning you choose.

Can I send it straight to them?

Yes. At checkout, put their address as the delivery address. There are no prices in the parcel.

Do I need a perfect photo of their pet?

No. Any clear photo where you can see the face works, even one from social media or a family group chat. You'll see the finished portrait free before you buy, so you know whether the photo was good enough.
