How it works

Add a photo. One clear photo is enough; up to three helps with tricky markings.
We check the photo for an animal and the colour of their eyes, so the portrait gets them right.
Choose a style and a scene: 8 styles, from oil painting to 35mm film, and scenes from a plain portrait to Christmas or a gentle memorial.
In about a minute you see the finished picture. If you like it, give it their name and choose what it goes on.

What's free, and what isn't

Seeing it is free, and we'll email you the full-size file free too. You only pay if you choose a print, mug, card or other product. There's no account to make and we don't ask for a card to see it.

The things you can hold cost money: a framed print from £39, a mug from £19, a greeting card from £5, a T-shirt from £27 and more. Everything is made to order (2–5 working days) and then posted. The delivery time and cost are shown on each product page before you buy.

Honestly, what the AI does

An AI image model looks at your photo and makes a new picture of the same animal in the style you chose: their markings, ear shape and expression, with a new pose, setting and light. It's painted-style, not painted by hand, and nobody pretends otherwise.

Most of the time it looks very like them. Sometimes it doesn't: a marking in the wrong place, a slightly different face. Because you see it free before paying anything, that costs you nothing; try another photo or another style.

Your photos

Your photos are used to make your portrait. They're sent to our image partner, fal.ai, for processing and aren't used to train any model. To check the photo, fal passes it to a vision model, without your name or email.

We keep your photos and portraits with your gallery so you can come back and order, until you ask us to delete them. We only ever show a portrait publicly with your permission, and never with your photo, name or email.

Which photo works best

A clear photo of their face, at their eye level, in daylight. They don't need to be sitting nicely or looking perfect; the portrait poses them for you. Avoid photos where they're far away, blurred by movement or half hidden.

Is the AI pet portrait really free?

Yes. Seeing it is free, and we'll email you the full-size file free too. You only pay if you choose a print, mug, card or other product.

Is it painted by hand?

No. It's painted-style: an AI image model makes it from your photo. That's why it takes about a minute and is free to see, where a portrait from an artist takes weeks and is paid for up front.

Does it work for cats, rabbits and other pets?

Yes. Dogs and cats are most common, but it works for rabbits, guinea pigs, horses, birds and many more. The photo check tells us what kind of animal it is.

Can I have two pets in one portrait?

Not in one picture at the moment: each portrait is of one pet, which keeps every likeness true. Paint each of them in the same look and they make a matching pair side by side.

What happens to my photos?

They're used to make your portrait and aren't used to train any model. We keep them with your gallery until you ask us to delete them, and never show them publicly.

What if I don't like it?

Then you haven't spent anything. Try a different photo or style. If you order and aren't happy with what arrives, our 30-day guarantee covers it.
