Terms of service

1. Acceptance

By using fancy.pet (the “Service”) you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or have your parent or legal guardian's permission, to use the Service. You must have the legal right to upload the photos you submit (i.e. you took them, you own the copyright, or you have the photographer's permission).

3. Your photos and your pet

When you upload reference photos, you grant Fancy Pet a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use those photos solely to generate your portrait, fulfil your order, and provide customer support related to your order. We will not use your reference photos for any other purpose. We will not use them to train any AI model. See the Privacy Policy for retention details.

4. The portraits we generate

The painted portraits we generate from your photos are yours to enjoy. Specifically: when you receive your portraits, you receive a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free licence to use them for any personal, non-commercial purpose: print them, share them on social media, set them as your phone wallpaper, send them to friends.

Fancy Pet retains the right to use generated portraits for our own purposes including marketing samples, gallery showcases, and product development, with two important limits: we will never use them in a way that identifies the pet's owner by name without separate permission, and we will honour any reasonable request to stop showcasing a specific portrait.

Commercial use of the portraits (reselling, using them in someone else's product, etc.) requires our written permission. Email hello@fancy.pet and we'll usually say yes.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload photos that aren't of pets, or that prominently feature identifiable children.
• Upload sexually explicit, violent, hateful, or otherwise unlawful content.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, abuse, scrape, or overwhelm the Service.
• Use the Service to impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.

We may suspend access or remove content that violates these rules, at our discretion.

6. Products and orders

Physical products (t-shirts, mugs, prints, hoodies, caps, socks, etc.) are made-to-order by our print partner Printify and shipped directly to you. Production typically takes 3–7 business days plus shipping time. Estimated dates shown at checkout are estimates, not guarantees.

7. Returns and refunds · 30-day guarantee

Every product comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you're not happy with what arrived, for any reason, contact us at hello@fancy.pet within 30 days of delivery and we'll make it right with a reprint, a replacement, or a full refund of the product price. For damaged, defective, or not-as-previewed items, please include a photo so we can fix the root cause too.

If you live in the EU or UK, you also have statutory rights under consumer protection law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Our 30-day guarantee sits on top of them.

8. Pricing and payment

Prices are shown in your selected currency on the product page. We auto-detect your location and you can change currency at any time via the picker in the shop nav. Payment is processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. While we work hard to produce great portraits, AI image generation is non-deterministic. We cannot guarantee any specific aesthetic outcome. If you're unhappy with a generated portrait, contact us and we'll usually re-generate or refund.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fancy Pet disclaims all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fancy Pet's total aggregate liability arising out of or related to your use of the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Fancy Pet harmless from any claim, demand, or damages arising from (a) photos you upload that infringe someone else's rights, (b) your breach of these terms, or (c) your misuse of the Service or any portraits.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or related to these terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer resident in the EU, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and the mandatory consumer-protection laws of that country apply.

13. Changes

We may update these terms when we change features, vendors, or for legal reasons. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the new terms.
