Mother's Day, from the dog

Some mums are dog mums. Some are simply the one who does the morning walk in the rain. Either way, Mother's Day is the one day the dog should be saying thank you.

When it is

In the UK, Mother's Day is Mothering Sunday: the fourth Sunday of Lent, three weeks before Easter Sunday, so it moves: usually in March, occasionally early April. Order with a week or two to spare: the last dates for each product are at the top of this page from late January.

Everything is made to order (2–5 working days) and then posted. The delivery time and cost are shown on each product page before you buy.

Ideas from the dog

  • A card from the dog, with the dog on the front, from £5. Sign it with a paw drawn in pen, or let the children do it.
  • A mug from £19, with the dog's portrait and name, for the tea she drinks after the walk.
  • A framed print from £39: the dog, painted softly in watercolour or Monet style, for the wall she sees every day.

Which style suits Mum

Watercolour and Monet are the gentlest styles: pale, pretty and easy to hang anywhere. A classic oil painting suits a more traditional house. If your mum has a sense of humour, a 35mm film snapshot of the dog looking guilty might suit her better still.

No photo? Give a gift card

If you can't get a good photo of their pet without giving the game away, a Fancy Pet gift card lets them choose for themselves. It's emailed, straight away or on the morning you pick, for any amount from £10 to £75. It's in pounds, used in one order and lasts 2 years.

Questions

Can the card say it's from the dog?

The card is blank inside, so you write the message yourself: from the dog, from the children, or both. The front is the dog's portrait, with their name if you like.

Can I send it straight to them?

Yes. At checkout, put their address as the delivery address. There are no prices in the parcel.

Do I need a perfect photo of their pet?

No. Any clear photo where you can see the face works, even one from social media or a family group chat. You'll see the finished portrait free before you buy, so you know whether the photo was good enough.
