Gifts for cat lovers, starring their cat

Every cat lover has a phone full of photos of one particular cat. Turn the best of them into a portrait, and put it on something they'll use. Here's how, with ideas from a card to a framed print.

Cats deserve a proper portrait

Cats carry themselves like aristocrats, so they suit the grand styles better than any animal: an oil painting in warm gallery light, a smoky Renaissance portrait, or a full Royal sitting with robes. Their owners tend to find this very funny and entirely accurate.

If the cat is more chaos than dignity, a 35mm film snapshot catches that instead.

The photo: cats rarely pose, and that's fine

You don't need the cat to sit nicely or look at the camera. You need one photo where the face is clear and their markings are visible. A cat asleep in a sunny spot is often perfect.

Borrow one from their social media or a family chat, or ask someone who lives with them. For a tabby or a tortoiseshell, a second photo helps with complicated markings.

Ideas by budget

  • A card with their cat on the front, from £5.
  • Socks with their cat's face printed all over, from £15.
  • A mug for the morning tea, from £19, with the cat's name if you like.
  • A hoodie from £47, for the cat lover who would wear one proudly.
  • A framed print from £39, for the wall the cat probably already owns.

No photo? Give a gift card

If you can't get a good photo of their pet without giving the game away, a Fancy Pet gift card lets them choose for themselves. It's emailed, straight away or on the morning you pick, for any amount from £10 to £75. It's in pounds, used in one order and lasts 2 years.

What it can go on

Everything is made to order (2–5 working days) and then posted. The delivery time and cost are shown on each product page before you buy.

Questions

Do I need a perfect photo of their pet?

No. Any clear photo where you can see the face works, even one from social media or a family group chat. You'll see the finished portrait free before you buy, so you know whether the photo was good enough.

My friend's cat is black. Will it work?

Yes. Black cats look especially good in Oil painting and Black & white, where side light shows the shape of the coat. The clearer the eyes are in the photo, the better.

Can I send it straight to them?

Yes. At checkout, put their address as the delivery address. There are no prices in the parcel.

Does it cost anything to try?

Seeing it is free, and we'll email you the full-size file free too. You only pay if you choose a print, mug, card or other product.
