A birthday portrait for a dog or cat
Whether it's their real birthday or the day they came home, a pet's birthday is an excuse for a party hat and a photo. Here's how to make that photo into a portrait, and what to put it on.

The birthday scene
Our Birthday scene gives your pet a party hat and a celebration, without you having to get a hat on a real dog or, braver still, a cat. It works in every style: a 35mm film snapshot looks like the party really happened; oils or watercolour make it a portrait to keep.
Birthday ideas
- A birthday card from the pet, with their portrait on the front, from £5. Lovely for the owner, too, on their own birthday.
- A mug with the birthday portrait and their name, from £19.
- A T-shirt from £27 for the party (yes, people do).
- A framed print from £39, for a milestone birthday: a first, a tenth, a sixteenth.
For an older pet
A big birthday for a senior dog or cat is worth marking. A calm classic portrait, in oils or watercolour, can suit them better than a party scene: a way to keep them as they are now.
Ordering in time
Everything is made to order (2–5 working days) and then posted. The delivery time and cost are shown on each product page before you buy. Order a week or two before the day so it arrives in time.
What it can go on
Questions
Does my pet need to be wearing a party hat in the photo?
No. Use any clear photo of their face. The Birthday scene adds the hat and the celebration.
Can I put their age on it?
The lettering under the portrait is meant for their name. A card is blank inside, so their age can go in your message.
Does it cost anything to try?
Seeing it is free, and we'll email you the full-size file free too. You only pay if you choose a print, mug, card or other product.
